The Grand Central FIS Cardbase connector provides connectivity with FIS Cardbase (FIS Payments One Debit Suite), a debit and credit card management system that supports both card onboarding and card servicing. It enables business customers to issue debit and credit cards and link them to their respective deposit accounts. This connector integrates with FIS API v4 and provides comprehensive card lifecycle management capabilities for financial institutions, payment processors, and fintech companies. Version supported: 4.0

Key capabilities

Card issuing

Issue debit and credit cards for customers.

Card number generation

Generate valid card numbers per issuer rules.

Account linking

Link cards to deposit accounts.

Features

Generate unique, valid card numbers

Generate card numbers using prefix/BIN numbers for credit, debit, prepaid, and virtual cards. Payment service providers can integrate card number generation into their systems to create and store new card customers in their CMS database.

Create new card devices

Create new card devices in Cardbase using a previously generated card number plus basic customer identity and demographic details. Use this for seamless onboarding of new cards, provisioning physical plastic cards, activation of contactless cards, and creation of virtual cards. The system records customer and card-related details for managing card devices throughout their lifecycle. Create relationships between physical and virtual cards and customer accounts, enabling transaction processing, tracking, and management.

Use cases

  • Card onboarding: Streamline new card issuance with automated card number generation and device creation.
  • Virtual card issuance: Rapidly issue virtual cards for online transactions or temporary use cases.
  • Physical card management: Manage the complete lifecycle of physical plastic and contactless cards.
  • Card replacement: Replace lost, stolen, or damaged cards with new card devices.
  • Multi-product support: Issue and manage different card types (credit, debit, prepaid) from a single platform.
  • Payment processing integration: Link cards to accounts for seamless transaction processing and tracking.

Interaction flow

The connector interacts with Backbase Engagement Banking Platform, Grand Central, and the Cardbase system to:
  1. Card number generation: Request and receive unique valid card numbers
  2. Customer validation: Verify customer identity and demographic information
  3. Card device creation: Create new card device records in Cardbase
  4. Account linking: Establish card-to-account relationships
  5. Lifecycle tracking: Monitor and manage card status throughout lifecycle
  6. Transaction processing: Enable transaction routing and processing
